Lumbini is now considered to be the birth place of Siddhārtha Gautama Buddha. Recently it has become a World Heritage Centre featuring various temples built by a number of counties. We just happened to be taking shade in the very spot where Buddha was born when a ray of light fell on the forehead of his statue.
